Crack the GRE®

Verbal Attack 3

Study Groups

Make a study group of as many students as you can. Sit together once a week and decide which word lists you must study for the following week. When you meet again one student will pose as the Tester and the will read out words at random from the studied word lists. The others will write down the meanings as they have interpreted them. Score yourself and compare your scores. Discuss the meanings and clear your doubts. Keep a dictionary ready for reference. The next week another student should pose as the Tester. Listen to the sentences made by others and tell them your sentences. These sessions can result in the formation of new wacky sentences that no student is going to forget.

The Study Group acts as a good platform for the students to work together to achieve a common goal. Memorizing lengthy word lists can be a monotonous exercise and this approach can make it fun and fulfilling, ensuring that you not only do well, but also have an enriched vocabulary for life.
